To celebrate the school’s ten year anniversary, the Coláiste na hInse Debating Society organised a legacy debate and invited Ryan Tubridy as host. The RTÉ star hosted the lunchtime debate on the motion “The Irish Education System has Failed its Young People”, which saw the Coláiste’s upcoming debaters, coached by senior debating champions, demonstrate their oratorical skills in front of a packed lunchtime audience in the school’s library.
The second debate, was held at 7pm in An Grianán, and this special event saw many former students returning to CNI to participate. On the evening there were no fewer than seven national champions, two provincial champions and two brave teachers speaking. The debate was judged by the current Irish Debating Coach, Aodhan Peelo and hosted by Fianna Fail Education Spokesperson, Thomas Byrne. Many thanks to all who attended and supported the event, which was a fitting celebration of the Debating Society’s outstanding success in Coláiste na hInse.
